New iPhone Cover

I have been searching for a new iphone cover for months and I finally came across the perfect one!  I didn't want anything too bulky and I wanted it to blend well with my white iphone.  Another thing I was worried about was that my iphone is a 4s and some covers that claim to be iphone4/4s compatable AREN'T! I bought one right when I got my phone and Jas had to cut it so it would fit (the volume buttons are a little lower on the 4s than the 4).

Enough jibber jabber, here it is!

Here is where I found it.

It is one of the coolest websites I've come accross.  You can personalize just about anything!
When it comes to phone covers, there are SO many options to choose from.  Just head over there and check it out, because I can't even begin to describe the coolness that oozes out of that place.  You can thank me later :)

My Style Friday

I work in a professional work environment and also stand on my feet for up to 14 hours a day.  This means I get dressed up all spiffy for work and wear ugly shoes :)  Hence, most of my work outfits will be paired with either hideous footwear or none at all to spare you the horror.  Here is a work outfit from this week.

Here is a closer look at the necklace (which I love!)

HAPPY FRIDAY!!!

Thursday Pinspiration

Today's Pinspiration comes from WomensHealth magazine and is what we had for dinner last night.

Jas and I are both self proclamed chicken finger enthusiasts, and I was on the search for a healthier version when I came across this recipe on Pinterest.

Here is what you need

1 lb boneless, skinless chicken tenders
Salt and black pepper to taste (I didn't use any salt)
3 egg whites, lightly beaten
2 cups panko bread crumbs (I used Italian style)
2 Tbsp Dijon mustard
1 tsp chipotle pepper puree (I used a chipotle sauce)
1 Tbsp honey

Here is what you do (it's SO easy!)

* Preheat the oven to 450°F. Season the chicken with salt and pepper. Place the egg whites in a shallow bowl. Place the crumbs in a shallow bowl and season those, too. Dip the chicken tenders into the egg, then toss in the crumbs, being sure to coat fully.

* Place the breaded chicken pieces on a baking sheet coated with nonstick cooking spray and bake for 10 to 12 minutes, until the crumbs have browned and the chicken is firm.

* Combine the mustard, chipotle, and honey in a large bowl. Toss the cooked chicken tenders in the mixture so they are all evenly coated with the spicy-sweet sauce. (I didn't toss, I just poured it over and used as a dipping sauce)

These were absolutely delicious!  The sauce is really what makes them special.  WARNING: the sauce is spicy!

DIY Workout Shirt

The other day I had an appointment with my personal trainer and was low on workout shirt options due to my lack of ambition to do laundry, so I decided to cut up one of my old t-shirts.  Let me be honest, the idea wasn't totally mine.  I did see a pin on Pinterest about doing this but I swear I didn't pin it!  Anyway, I think it turned out pretty cool, and my trainer even commented on it (and he's a guy).

I didn't do anything fancy with the front so it basically looks like a regular shirt from the front.  I see a lot of my never worn t-shirts being transformed in the future!

My Style Friday

I would say I generally enjoy fashion.  I don't follow every trend, but I will mix a few into my wardrobe if the mood strikes.  Most of the time I wear fairly classic pieces but tend to mix in a trend here and there.  Every Friday I will show you an outfit from my life.  Since I'm still off of work this week I've been playing it pretty casual.  Today I'm just cleaning and doing laundry.  I might venture to the grocery store so I put a little more effort into my look today.

Shirt: Forever 21  Shorts: Gap
I had to fight my camera to get this picture, so it's not the best, but you get the idea.

What's your style?

New! Pinspiration Thursday

Who doesn't love Pinterest? I mean really, there are millions of amazing ideas on that website! I myself have sacrificed countless hours surfing the net for new and exciting tips and tricks.  As of today I have 840 pins, but how many have I actually tried?  Maybe 10-15. SO SAD! So, I am committing myself to actually TRY the things I pin.  Every Thursday will from now on be Pinspiration Thursday.

Today, I will show you how I made my own laundry detergent.  Pin courtesy of a blogger HERE.

Start with
1 cup Borax
1 cup Super Washing Soda
1 bar soap
I got all my supplies at WalMart but you can find them at any grocery store in the laundry aisle.  I chose a natural, plain soap with no extra moisturizers or perfumes.

Start by grating the bar of soap into a large (at least 2 gallons) pot. Then add 1 gallon of water, turn on the heat, and stir until the soap is dissolved.

Then add in borax and washing soda and bring to a boil.

Once it reaches a rolling boil, remove from heat and add another gallon of water.

The hard part is over, now you just wait.  I leave my detergent in the pot I make it in with the lid on because as the liquid cools it is going to congeal so pouring becomes almost impossible.  I will just scoop it out of the pot as I need it.

It takes about 1-2 days to congeal and you may want to stir it a few times to speed up the process.

Use 1/2 cup per load and stop watching all your money go in the washing machine!

Vacation

Jas and I just got back from a lovely vacation in Michigan.  We stayed at a great house just off the beach in a secluded woodsy area.  We spent the week walking the beach and pier, eating, and relaxing.  We were lucky enough to have a few friends come up for the weekend and share in the relaxation.  Never underestimate an hour at the beach, friends around a fire, or a rainy day.

If you're ever in Grand Haven, Michigan check out Morning Star Cafe . We went 2 days in a row because we couldn't get enough! I couldn't resist the special the 2nd day (carrot cake pancakes) and it was a fabulous choice!  Get up early though, they stop serving breakfast at 11am.
