My Style Friday

Tank: NYAC Cardigan: LOFT Capris: Banana Republic

Another work outfit displaying my fabulous ugly comfy shoes :)  Looking back on my posts, I have worn these capris a lot.  Definitely a piece that was worth it!

Oh, and NYAC means New York and Company.

Happy Friday!

Pumpkin Cake with Apple Cider Glaze

What you need:
1 box yellow cake mix
1 can pumpkin, 15oz.

3 T apple cider
1 1/2 cups powdered sugar
3/4 t pumpkin pie spice

What you do:

With a hand or stand mixer, combine cake mix and pumpkin.

Pour into a greased 7x11 pan.  I used a 9x9 pan, because I didn't have a 7x11 and it turned out fine

Bake at 350 for 28 minutes or until toothpick inserted into center comes out clean

Meanwhile, combine the powdered sugar, apple cider, and pumpkin pie spice.

Let the cake cook for a few minutes then pour the glaze onto the cake while it is still warm.

I added some festive fall sprinkles for fun :)  You might as well get a fork out because you will not be able to wait to dig into this cake!

Owl Love

Hello, my name is Lindsey and I love owls.

Check out this mug I got at Kroger!

I mean, seriously! It doesn't get any cuter than that.  They also have the mugs in orange and huge owl cookie jars too.  If you are lucky enough to have a Kroger near you go and check out the collection, it is too cute.

It's Beginning To Look A Lot Like Fall

In celebration of the first day of fall, I broke out all of our fall decorations this weekend!  I love all fall decor from pumpkins to bright colored leaves.  I even put apple cinnamon wax in our melter so the house smelled like fall too (I tend to get carried away with seasonal items).

This is a wreath I made a couple years ago.  I got everything at Michael's and it was a super easy and fun project.  The bow is looking a little sad from being stored for a year, but replacing a bow yearly is easy and cheap.

This is our dining room table decor.  We rarely use our dining room but I always like to keep it looking nice.  Again, I made all of these arrangements from supplies at Michael's and the table runner is from Home Goods.  Today, the table runner is askew and one of the arrangements is completely disassembled laying on the table.  Mac is not a fan of any "clutter" on "his" tables.

This is our centerpiece on our kitchen table.  The base is from a candle we got as a wedding gift.  I just took the candle out and replaced it with fall "filler."  As per usual, I believe I got the filler at Michael's too.

There are a couple of fall ideas on Pinterest that I'm itching to try as well.  I will be sure to share them if I decide to try :)

Happy Fall!

Artichoke-Tomato Chicken

I want to share with you a recipe I made Sunday night in my beloved crock pot that fed us Monday and Tuesday nights while I was at work.  It is super super easy and absolutely delicious!

I need to remember to take pictures when I'm making something, because it usually is after the fact when I decide I want to blog a recipe.  So, here is a pictureless, but nonetheless, fabulous recipe.

What you need:
1 yellow onion, sliced
14 oz jar marinated artichoke hearts, drained
14 oz can diced tomatoes (I used Italian seasoned)
6 T red wine vinegar
1 tsp minced garlic
pepper to taste
4 chicken breasts

What you do:
Throw it all in the crock pot and cook on low 4-6 hours.

I even put in my chicken breasts frozen which made this even easier!

My Style Friday

Dress: JCPenny Cardigan: Loft Necklace: Francesca's

This was my attempt at the maxi trend.  I actually really love how comfortable maxi dresses are, but I still can't decide if they are right for me.  Regardless, I love this dress and would not be against buying another maxi in the future.

Pinspiration Thursday

The Pin:

This is about towels, people!  Jas and I just saved ourselves an expensive trip to Bed Bath and Beyond by following the advice in this pin.

If you've had your towels for a couple years and they have started to smell not so fresh, then keep reading.

Here is the solution:

Wash the towels in hot water with 1 cup of vinegar
then
Wash the towels in hot water with 1/2 cup of baking soda

Your towels will come out smelling "normal" again.  This process basically strips them of any residue that has been left behind by previous washes.

You are very welcome for saving you lots and lots of money on new towels :)

A Beautiful Day In The Neighborhood

As we approach fall, I am really enjoying the cool morning and evening weather.  It is such a great feeling to open all the windows in the house and enjoy the fresh air.  On mornings I don't work, Coco and I usually go for a lovely walk around the neighborhood.  Today was absolutely picture perfect.  Life couldn't be any better.

PSL

Just a little announcement to let you know that Pumpkin Spice Lattes are back at Starbucks!  I, of course, have already indulged in multiple PSL's making the fact that it's September and the nights are getting cooler more real.  Fall is upon us and I couldn't be happier!

If you're an all around lover of pumpkin like me, you won't want to miss Starbucks' pumpkin cream cheese muffin or pumpkin scone either.  Both will send you into a pumpkin coma you won't soon forget.

Check out this video celebrating the return of the PSL, it's quite humorous :)

My Style Friday

Tank: Gap Cardigan: Old Navy Crops: Loft

This is an outfit I wore to work and looking back on it, I absolutely LOVE it!  I love the bright green with the navy.  These crops were probably one of my favorite purchases of the summer.  I have gotten many wears out of them both to work and running errands.

Happy Friday!

The Pin:

With the movie The Hunger Games being released on DVD recently, I thought this would be the perfect time to discuss this pin.  I  absolutely loved reading the Hunger Games trilogy as did many of my friends, so when I saw this pin I immediately wanted to pick out a new read.  I settled on the book Matched by Ally Condie.  It is also set in the future and is about a girl who gets her "match" (future husband/soul mate) and all of the struggles she goes through trying to deal with the fact that she doesn't get to make any of her own decisions in life.  It is a great book.  It is also a trilogy, but I've only read the first book so far.

If you are a fan of the Hunger Games go here to check out this list.  You won't be disappointed.

I Apologize for My Absence

Woah! Where have I been?  I was one busy lady last week.  If I wasn't standing in front of a computer in the pharmacy I was staring at the inside of my eyelids at home.  We had a relaxing Labor Day spent at my parent's house with all of our crazy dogs!

Total monkey see, monkey do these two!

I hope you all had a fabulous Labor Day and I am going to try to get back into the swing of things around here!
